It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our beloved home at 861 Iliff was lost in the fire, along with everything we knew and loved. We grieve alongside all our friends and neighbors who, for the most part, also lost everything. While the places and spaces that made the Palisades so special may be gone, we remain steadfast and hopeful as our community has proved to be unbelievably mighty during these unprecedented times.
The conversations about whether to stay or go have already started. We have heard from so many community members, leaders, small business owners, real estate agents and more who all want to know “What’s next for 90272?”. There are those who want to fiercely protect the soul of our community, and those with deep pockets who may simply see this tragedy as an investment opportunity.
While we will need investment to rebuild, we will also need empathy, thoughtfulness, and a well thought out strategy to rebuild with integrity. There will be opportunities for those who want to sell and rebuild their lives elsewhere as well as opportunities for those who want to rebuild and return to the place they call home. We want to provide a safe place for those who want to have this conversation with someone they trust, and someone who has a deep understanding of everything that goes into making the decision to stay or go.
We will stay. We will rebuild. We will work with our community to rebuild with integrity. We will see some of you back in 90272. We will miss those of you who won't, or simply can’t come back.
